It is with great sadness that I send this message of sympathy on he passing of J Medicine Hat. My husband interviewed him many times for his radio show and over the course of the years we saw him perform at least a dozen or more times. Each one funnier than the last. We are so happy we caught his performance the last time he was in Richmond, VA. He will greatly missed for so many reasons. RIP J Medicine Hat!

Wow! One of my listeners called to tell me the sad news. My wife and I were big fans of "Hat" and had just seen him back in June here in Richmond. I had taken him a bottle of Crown Royal and shared a few moments together in the "green room." He was one of the funniest guys I have ever seen in nightclubs. After the last show, he called me to the 'green room' and ask me what I thought of some of his new material. I was flattered he would ask me and I told him he was wise to update some of the material and all good. He was a special guy and to his family and close friends, please accept our condolences.

I would like to express my condolences to your and your family in this great time of sorrow. J will always be remembered for his hilarious acts, as well as his contagious laughter!
I have attented numberous shows of J's in the Omaha NE area, and never laughed so much, or so hard. Every show I saw, I left with my face hurting, and stomach aching from all the laughing I did.
He took his job serious but also knew how to have fun. I remember at the Funny Bone here in Omaha, they had just made the building NON SMOKING, J stood on stage for about 20 minutes of his show trying not to smoke, but then he told us he couldn't handle it anymore, and lit up a cigerette! NOBODY at the Funny Bone said anything to him, they just "IT'S J!" lol
He was a great entertainer and will never be forgotten.
My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to J's friends and family during this hard time.

I met J back in Cincinnati at Go Bananas Comedy Club over 13 years ago and to this day we were still friends. He watched me grow up from an 18 year old girl to a 31 year old woman and I cannot say that about many people in my life. We may not have seen each other or talked to each other all of the time but that did not negate our friendship in any way.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I never had the pleasure of meeting you but I know from the way he talked about all of you how much he loved every one of you.
J was an amazing man and an amazing talent and I feel very blessed to have known him. There are not many people in this world that have the talent nor the ability to make people laugh till they cry like J did.
So many people can look back and remember all the joy and laughter J brought them and the way that he touched their lives and that is a true testament to who he was.
I will never forget him and neither will all the others whose lives he touched with his amazing spirit.
Rest in peace J, I can't wait till we meet again...
