Obituary

Alan D. Simmons, 57, of Mabelvale died on Saturday, December 6, 2008 of heart failure and complications of diabetes. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany, May 1951 to Major Flavius Simmons (deceased) and Rebecca K. Simmons of Little Rock. His family moved to L.R. when his father retired for the Army in 1964. Alan and his sisters attended L.R. Public Schools. Alan was a Viet Nam Veteran and was disabled most of his adult life.

He is survived by his two sisters, Pam Simmons of Dallas, TX, and Dee Simmons of L.R.. He was married to Dody Simmons who was his angel, who loved and cared for him for many years prior to his death. Alan leaves two children, Ashley Franck of Conway and Eric Woods, location unknown. Graveside services will be held at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, NLR on Monday, Dec. 15 at 1:00 PM by Dial and Dudley Funeral Home of Bryant. There will also be a gathering in remembrance at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 15 at First Baptist Church of Shannon Hills.
