Anthony Elmo Schaffer, 65, of Alexander, AR passed away on November 26, 2020. Anthony is survived by three children and their spouses, Kristopher and Torissa Schaffer of Morton, WA, Nicholas and Erin Shurtleff of Greenville, TX, and Jennifer and Ronnie Crawford of Mabelvale, AR. He is also survived by six grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, Dusty, Destiny, Riley, Keegan, Kinley and Gemmalynn and a host of other family and friends who all love and miss him dearly. Anthony was born on July 22, 1955 to the late, St. Elmo and Velma (Bevans) Schaffer in Springhill, Louisiana. He spent his childhood in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado before returning to Springhill, LA until adulthood. Anthony married the love of his life, Susan, on January 1, 1994. They spent the next 21 years going on adventures around the United States. They enjoyed seeing new places, experiencing new things, and creating new memories. Their favorite trip was to Acadia National Park and Niagra Falls. They shared many extraordinary moments together until Susan's death in 2015 a month before their 22nd wedding anniversary. Anthony spent his career as an international welding inspector working on pipelines, bridges, and amusement park rides. His career took him to places like Norway, South America, Alaska, and all over the continental US. He enjoyed traveling, camping, scuba diving, fishing, and jeeping. He was a member of 7 Slots Arkansas Jeep Club. In addition to his parents and love of his life, Anthony is preceded in death by his oldest son, David Schaffer and his only sister, Cecelia "Tela" Phillips. The family is indebted to the doctors and nursing staff at CARTI who took such great care of him.
