Barbara Jean Harned Cates, 57, of Mabelvale, Arkansas left her earthly cancer-ridden body to claim her new Heavenly body on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Hospice Inpatient Center. She was born to the late Edd Harned and Patricia Gary Harned Duggan on Monday, May 1, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She worked at Shipley's Donuts and Southern Maid for a numerous of years. It was while working at Tastee Freez where she spotted the love of her life, Kim Michael Cates. They were married over 25 years before his death on November 29, 2017. She was modest and self-deprecating to a fault. She loved giving and helping others and thought more of someone else's needs before her own. She was always quick to hug and say, "I love you." She was loved by her nieces, nephews, and the "greats" who affectionately called her "Aunt Bee." She was able to accomplish her last two requests which were to go see Aunt Betty in Texas and be baptized after rededication of her life to Christ in 2004.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kim Michael Cates; her son, Derrick Maxey; brother, Jimmy Harned.

She is survived by three children, Robin Watkins, Andrea Guiltner (Justin), and Stephen Copeland (Brittany); six grandchildren, Kensleigh, Gage, Brody, Keygan, Desarae and Kaydence; siblings, Annette Berney (Donn), Charlotte Powell, Jerry Harned, Julia Linn (Mike), Sandra Palmer, Donna Null (Rick), Michael Duggan (Jenn) and Ricky Duggan; special aunt, Betty Jean Harned Bolinsky; along with a host of family and friends who all love and miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Saline Missionary Baptist Church in Tull, Arkansas on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
