Barbara Grace Davis Holmes (Bobbey) (MeMe) went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2020. She passed at her home in Romance, Arkansas surrounded by family after a long battle with COPD. Bobbey was born on March 18, 1949, in Little Rock, to W.A. Davis Jr. and Gloria Ann Davis Staggs. She is one of three children.
Bobbey attended Lawson Elementary and Cloverdale Jr. High and High School. She graduated from LaVern's Beauty College in 1967, and while there received trophies and awards for best in her class. She received first place in competitions featuring iconic hairstyles defining the 1960's and 1970's, specifically the flip and beehive. Throughout her lifelong career of a beautician, she worked for Mane Event in Little Rock, owned Bobbey's Hair Fashions, also in Little Rock, and Bobbey's Mane Event, a shop she opened in Brinkley and retired from. She was exceptionally talented evident by her many customers who happily drove over an hour, one way, every week to sit in her salon chair after she relocated. Bobbey regularly volunteered many hours of her time to work with cancer patients at organizations like Locks of Love.Second to her relationship with God, her children were the most important part of her life. She masterfully designed two of her homes, and there she enjoyed caring for her family. She cross stitched and loved working in her yard.
Bobbey was preceded in death by her father and mother, W.A. Davis Jr and Gloria Ann Staggs.
Left to cherish Bobbey's memories are her loving husband of 22 years, Stanley Holmes. Her three children: daughter, Crystal (CeCee) Parker Cochrane & husband, Robert Joe of Cotton Plant, son, Bobby Shane Parker of Cotton Plant, & son, Shawn Carol Parker & wife, Wendy and stepchildren Garrett and Rachel of Quitman. Bobbey's grandchildren: River Studer of Cotton Plant, Nicholas Ray Parker & wife, Ashley of Hunter, Blakely Sprouse of Maumelle, and Adyson Walter of Mabelvale. Her three great grandchildren: Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Nicholas Jr. of Hunter. Her siblings: brother, W.A. Davis III & wife, Denise of Storey & sister, Sharon Kay Andrews of Alexander, her nieces, nephews, stepchildren, & many dear friends.
She will be greatly missed by her family & all whose lives (and hair) she has touched.
Bobbey was a very private person and did not like being the center of attention. Therefore, per her wishes, there will be no public viewing. Following cremation by Dial and Dudley, Fowler Funeral Home will assist with a graveside ceremony at Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley, Arkansas held on October 10, 2020 at 3 p.m.
