Cora Janiece Purtell, 72, of Mabelvale (Shannon Hills), Arkansas departed this life Monday, September 11, 2023. She was born on November 30, 1950 in Oil Trough, Arkansas to the late Steven Hob and Nannie Eudora (McDougal) Knight.

Janiece as most knew her had been retired for many years. Her last employment being with the State of Arkansas. For many years, she enjoyed drinking coffee with neighbors who are considered as family members. Family was important to her as she once told a family member "My kids are my crown. My grandchildren are the jewels in my crown".

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil McDougal, Carl Knight, and Billy Knight; five sisters, Carlene Knight, Arzella Layton, Irene VanWinkle, Wilma Roberts, and Odessa Linville; and her parents.

She is survived by three loving children: Steven Redd and his wife Melanie of Little Rock; Michael Bailey of Houston, Texas; and Nikki Robertson and husband Steve of Mabelvale; three grandsons, Braden, Jenner and Sawyer; one granddaughter, Karli; one brother, Ernest Knight of Union Hill and one sister, Ruby Turner of Bradford; many nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 14,2023,at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Shannon Hills with visitation being held Wednesday, September 13,2023 from 5 P.M to 7 P.M. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
