Crystal Dawn Olmstead, 58, passed away on June 22, 2026. She was born on April 15, 1968, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Crystal was an avid reader who rarely went anywhere without her Kindle. Waiting never bothered her because she always had a good book to enjoy. Her daughter inherited her love of reading, and the two often exchanged books and recommendations throughout the years.
She was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and straightforward honesty. While she could be blunt at times, those who knew her best understood that her words always came from a place of love. Crystal opened her home and heart to others, offering a warm meal, a place to stay, and a seat at her holiday table whenever someone was in need.
Family meant everything to her. She helped raise her beloved granddaughter, Addison, from infancy and remained a constant source of love, guidance, and support. Crystal had a heart of gold and could always be counted on to stand by those she loved no matter the circumstances.
She encouraged her family to pursue their passions. She proudly supported her son Austin’s love of heavy metal music, even though the noise was not always her favorite. She attended concerts, wore the merchandise, and celebrated the things that brought joy to the people she loved.
Above all, Crystal gave a kind of genuine, unconditional love that was never questioned. She taught her family the importance of caring for one another, and while her presence will be deeply missed, the values she instilled and the memories she created will live on forever.
Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ruth Huskey and Austin Huskey Jr., and her brother, Austin Huskey “Bubba.”
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Grace Kelley; her son, Austin Scott Olmstead and daughter-in-law, Ali Olmstead; her grandchildren, Addison “Addie” Ember Olmstead, Lyle Austin Olmstead, and Kevin Joe Jr. (KJ); and her brothers, Lonnie Whaley and Morris Whaley.
Crystal’s legacy of love, generosity, laughter, and unwavering support will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for years to come.
Celebration of Life will be held on July 8,2026, at 11:00 A.M with visitation beginning one hour prior at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
