Damon Eugene Nelson 67, of Paron, passed away July 26, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on February 10, 1949 to the late, William and Kathleen Nelson in Galveston, Texas. Damon enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He retired from the Benton Fire Department after 20 years of service, and was also the Chief of the Paron Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Damon proudly served in the United States Army and served in Vietnam.
Damon is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Chandice Nelson and brother-in-law, Tom Linthicum.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Nelson; two daughters, Cassie Nelson and Kerry Nelson; two grandsons, Airin Allen and Jeffrey Nelson; brother, Galen Nelson (Stella); three sisters, Patricia Linthicum, Karen Marie Hamilton (Robert) and Robin Tittle (Jerry) and a host of family and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
