Derrick Jeffery Dumond, also called, D.J., Baby Blue, Pedey, and Crow, departed from this life on Friday, September 9th, 2016 at 4:54 p.m. He was surrounded and comforted by his family and friends during his final days at Saline Hospice in Bryant, Arkansas.
Derrick was born on August 29, 1980 at 3:30 a.m. in the city of Little Rock at Baptist Medical Hospital. He was born as the second child to Mike and LouAnn Dumond.
Derrick began this life with an astounding interest, prodigious knowledge, and immense curiosity for the world around him. His extra-ordinary curiosity led to an early usage of tools and the dismantling of swing-sets, many toys, porch swings or anything that required a screw or bolt.
But, let's not forget his stunning charm and wit. Derrick had the bluest eyes that melted the hearts of whomever he came into contact with and he was always a delight with his random, thoughtful visits, along with bouquets of wildflowers left on loved ones' door steps.
Derrick was a passionate fisherman by the age of three which was apparent by the countless minnows saved in the pockets of his jeans after several fishing adventures.
Derrick grew into adulthood with a keen knowledge of repairs and an everlasting love for the game of fish. There wasn't a thing that he couldn't fix or a job too much to build. He was extremely smart and attended I.T.T Technical Institution, a school for the highly engineered people.
Derrick married his first love, Erica Hardwick, at the age of twenty-three. Together, they conceived two beautiful sons, Michael and Zachary Dumond, bother bearing his intellect and bright blue eyes.
Derrick made his living in carpentry, mechanics, plumbing and construction. He was a jack of all trades and performed top-of-the-line work. He was called upon from everyone for any input or assistance wherever needed.
Derrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jesse and Juanita Dooly, his maternal step-grandmother: Velma King Dooly, his paternal grandparents: Roy and Martha Dumond, and his paternal step-grandmother: Agnes Dumond.
He is survived by his parents and step-mother: Dee Dumond, his brothers: Josh Dumond and Lance Dumond, his sisters: MichaelAnn Galloway and Laura Carroll, his sons: Michael and Zachary Dumond and countless friends and family members that he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held and Dial and Dudley, located at 4212 North Highway 5, Bryant, AR at 12:00
