Obituary

Doris Burt, 86, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, following a brief illness. She was born February 11, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
For more than a decade, Doris served with distinction as a volunteer at Baptist Health Medical Center - Little Rock, and was a regular recipient of volunteer recognition - including the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. She delivered gifts to the families of newborns, special greetings to those who were hospitalized on their birthday, patient mail and e-mail and surgery schedules. This, in addition to being a master of assembly-line projects for the hospital. Doris donated over 8,300 hours during her time as a Baptist Health volunteer and averaged giving 897 hours annually over the past seven years. Her greatest level of service was in 2012 during which she donated 1,035 hours and had already given 24 hours of service during January of this year, last serving on January 7. She will be sorely missed by her Baptist Health "Family."
Through the years Doris was an active member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in Little Rock where she worshipped at the time of her death. She was also active for many years at South Highland Baptist Church in Little Rock where she took an active role in visitation and transporting members in need to church and medical appointments. Doris was also a lover of animals, providing food and shelter for any in need who happened by her home.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ernie Burt; parents, James Walter and Flora Daniels; sisters Thelma Gunter and Glenda Cliff; and son-in-law George C. Dicus.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda J. Dicus of Benton; a sister, Juanita Matthews of Maumelle; three grandchildren, Dr. Scott Dicus of Searcy; Terri Mountjoy of Benton; and Tracye McKeown of Bryant; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Mountjoy, Jessica Parker, Kristen Kitchens, Nick Kitchens, Zachary Dicus, and Emery Dicus; three great-great-grandchildren, Jackson, Weston and Will, all of Bryant; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Dial & Dudley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Herring officiating. Visitation will be held at Dial & Dudley one hour prior to the funeral service. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Park Baptist Church.
