IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn
Amedee
January 14, 1926 – April 19, 2023
Evelyn Roder Fridge Amedee was born January 14, 1926, in New Orleans, LA to Alvin and Ernestine Roder. A few years later she went to live with her aunt, Birdie, and uncle, Edgar who raised her.
She met her husband, Dutch, during a double date in Baton Rouge. They were originally with different partners, but by the end of the night they switched dates and were together from then on. They married on November 1 st , 1942, and had four children. They remained married for 79 years until Dutch passed in 2021. She stayed home when her children were young, teaching them to sew and cook. Her children remember her frequently singing around the house. She worked in sales, and started selling magazines part time, later becoming a full-time literature evangelist. She also sold Avon for several years before retirement.
She was an avid reader and read her Bible daily. She also enjoyed crochet, gardening, cooking, and needlepoint. She never met a stranger and was known for her outgoing personality. She was an active member in the Seventh-Day Adventist church for the majority of her life. She particularly enjoyed helping with the prison ministry correspondence outreach. She loved nothing more than telling others about Jesus Christ.
