Obituary

Ginger Ann Athetis (Guinn), traveled home on August 23, 2014, after complications from lung cancer. She was 63 years young.
Ginger was born on March 26, 1951 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. She graduated from Mt. Ida High School and attended Henderson State College. She was retired USPS worker. She lived in Hot Springs and made her home in Sherwood. Ginger's priority in life was taking care of and providing for her family. She was wonderful wife and terrific mother, which is obvious if you've had the chance to meet here daughter, Alyx. Ginger was one of the greatest friends you could ever have. If you needed an ear for listening, a shoulder for crying, or just some advice, she would be there. Ginger had a very sincere, loving and compassionate personality. She was always thinking of her family and friends and putting their needs before her own. She never meet a stranger and she always saw the good in everyone. Ginger enjoyed traveling, reading, staying up-to-date on current events, having lunch dates with her friends and taking her dachshunds, Charlie and Cookie, on walks at Burns Park with Mark and Alyx.
She is preceded in death by parents, Marcus and Polly Guinn, Andrew and Mary Athetis (father/mother in law), and Andrew Athetis Jr. (Nephew)
Ginger is survived by her husband, Mark Athetis, daughter Alyx Athetis, brother/sister in law, Drew and Gina Athetis, and niece, Elizabeth Athetis-Cooper.
Special and many thanks to ALL of her friends, Tucker Thompson and his family (Anita, Brian, Sue, Linda, Shirley, Kristi, and others) and to the compassionate, professional staff at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center (CCU, CVSD).
Ginger's passing has left a hole in the hearts of those who love her. Most days we will dance around the hole, others days we will fall in it. Ginger would want her passing to be a celebration of her life. She would want us to remember and cherish all of the beautiful memories we had with her while she was here on earth.
We love you Ginger, to death and after death!
