Gloria Sue Nelson Cooper Littleton, age 87, passed away on 4 May 2020 at Hospice Care Center, Little Rock, AR. Gloria was born near Whitesville, WV on 19 January 1933 to the late Sidney S. and Essie Beulah (Atkins) Nelson. She was a 1960 graduate of Montgomery High School after returning to attend two years of high school after her marriage and the birth of three children. She graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1968. She was aelementary/middle school teacher for Fayette County Board of Education for 39 years. She came out of retirement to teach at Berean Christian Academy in Little Rock, AR for two years.
Gloria was a member of New Song Community Church of God (Anderson, IN) in Benton, AR where she was a Sunday School teacher and an active part of the life of the church. She enjoyed studying the Bible and learning Bible history.
Those preceding her in death were her first husband, Sidney Cooper, Sr. (1969) and her second husband, George Littleton 1993; her parents; and, seven brothers and three sisters. Gloria was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Cooper Littleton is survived by three children: Sid Cooper, Jr. of Montgomery, WV; Bernica Cooper Tackett of Benton, AR; and Robert (Kathryn) Cooper of Raleigh, N. C.; five grandsons: Christopher Tackett of Little Rock, AR; James Matthew (Julie) Cooper of Cary, N. C.; David Alexander (Tamara) Cooper of Raleigh, N. C.; Jacob Ryan (Cathleen) Cooper of Chapel Hill, N. C.; and, Patrick Ian (Alexis) Cooper of Raleigh, N. C.; and nine great-grandchildren: Jordan, Chandler, and Avery Tackett; Dasha, Xander, Aidan, Lachlan, Nicholas, and Wyatt Cooper.
A walk-through viewing, with social distancing being observed, will be held at Dial-Dudley Funeral Home, Bryant, AR, May 07, 2020 from 11:00-1:00 followed by a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. at Lee Cemetery in Benton , AR with Pastor Bob Burchfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to New Song Community Church of God, 12937 Meadowridge Drive, Benton, AR 72019.
