Helen Lorraine Drake Callihan, 89, of Benton (formerly of West Helena, AR) went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2013. She was born in Bridgeport, IL, to Everett Drake & the late Blanche Stivers Wilson.
In her younger years, she worked as a secretary. She was a loving sister, mother & grandmother. She treasured time spent with her grandkids and would often "adopt" those she met as her own grandkids who lovingly called her "Granny". She loved the Lord and taught her granddaughter prayers that they would often recite together at bedtime.
In Helen's later years, she enjoyed watching movies, listening to music and receiving letters and cards from her family. She was an animal lover and often had one by her side.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Reece Callihan; daughter Sharon Weldon-Burris; and sister Silvia Jane Volkman. She leaves behind two sons, Mark Callihan (Donna) of Alexander, AR and David Callihan (Linda) of Cammack Village, AR; two daughters, Karen Myers and Glynis Neal of Conway, AR; sister Lillian Valenzano of Newtonville, MA; brother John Young of St George UT; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Heartland Rehabilitation for their attentive care during the last years of her life, as well as to friends and family who have been supportive during this difficult time.
