James Elmer "Buddy" Pitts, Jr. 71, of North Little Rock, ascended into our Lord's arms on August 21, 2016. He was born April 5, 1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas to James Elmer Pitts, Sr. and Mary Marie (Sucka) Maher.
Buddy, a nickname given to him by his Pa-Sucka and Uncle Calvin, who by age seven had him in the hay fields, gathering wood, mending fences, driving a tractor, milking cows and gathering eggs. After high school and nine months of training he became a computer programmer. He worked at least sixty hours a week. He loved his work and went all over the USA to solve computer problems. Buddy loved fishing and swing dancing. In 1957 he tested second with the highest IQ score in the state of Arkansas.
He leaves behind two daughters, Shelly Hubbard and Janice Pitts; two stepsons, Kelly Crace and Michael Wacaster; three grandsons, Jeffrey Pitts, Kaylin Phelps and Jonathan Phelps; one great grandson and namesake Rylan James Allen Phelps; one brother, John Edward Maher, Jr.; three sisters, Linda Raiborn, Judith Rogers and husband Ron, and Katherine Clark as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening, August 25, 7 - 9 PM at Grace Church in Bryant.
