James Alvin Hipps, born in Bryant, Arkansas on August 5, 1936, passed away December 9, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his father Joe Hipps, his mother Myrtle Hipps, his sister Wanda Hipps, and his son Sammy Hipps.
He leaves behind his wife Beth Hipps, daughter Micca Hipps Burris, and grandson Kamron Burris.
James served in the Air National Guard for eight years. He retired from the Bryant Fire Department after twenty years of service. He is most well known in our city and county for his thirty one years served on the Bryant Police Department. When he retired in 1997, he had served as the Chief of Police of Bryant for nineteen years. He also had brief cameo in the locally produced movie, Little Marines.
Visitation will be Friday night, December 11, 2015, upstairs at the Bishop Park Community Center in Bryant from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, Arkansas at 2:00 PM.
