IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Ray
Long, Sr
April 18, 1962 – May 11, 2025
James Ray Long, Sr, a devoted father, proud grandfather, loving brother and loyal friend, was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas and passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Benton, Arkansas. He was a man who lived for his family, and his steady presence, sharp humor, and unmatched work ethic left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
James is survived by his beloved children, James Long, Jr, and his wife, Jenna and Savannah Forrest, and her husband, Steven; proud grandfather to three amazing grandchildren, Tysen Forrest, Johrj Long and Finn Forrest; James is also survived by his siblings, Connie County, Ronald Long, Dorothy Seale and Frances Snyder.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton Ray Long, Jr and Fannie Mae Greenwood; sisters, Debra Lynn Kyler, Brenda Kay Jasek and Mary Teresa Barnett.
A man of many talents, James found joy in simple pleasures—woodworking in his spare time, cheering from the stands at his grandsons' baseball or soccer games, and cooking up enough food to feed an army at every family gathering. He was reliable to his core, the kind of man who would drop everything to help when someone called. You never had to wonder if he loved you, he showed it in a thousand quiet ways, day in and day out, for the entirety of his 63 years.
He especially lit up when he was around his grandchildren—whether at the ball field, a school performance, or just sitting down to a meal. He bragged on them constantly and showed up for every moment he could.
James had a quick wit, a generous spirit, and a laugh that could lift a room. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter, and his memory will live on in every story told around the table and every game cheered from the sidelines.
Services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Bobrook Farms located at 13810 Combee Lane in Roland, Arkansas 72135.
