Janis "Jan" Elaine Payne, 78, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was born to the late, Aston and Maxine (Holmes) Gray, on Monday, January 2, 1945. Jan loved animals and would rescue all of them that she could. She also enjoyed volunteering  at the Little Rock Zoo. She loved nature, fishing, traveling, and really just helping others.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Vincent Gray (Janice); two loving daughters, Donna Steed (Walter) of Spring, TX and Tammi Pennington (Jimmy) of Bryant, AR; six grandchildren, Brandon Steed, Brittany Powers, Ashlie Staley, Bryson Steed, and Blake and Brett Pennington;  six great grandchildren; her wonderful neighbors, Mary and Dorothy; her beloved animals; along with a host of family and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly.

Her celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 P.M at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Rock Zoo.
