Josie Marie Harris Copeland, 100, of Little Rock, Arkansas was born on Tuesday, January 8th, 1924, in Alma, Arkansas, to the late, Jeff and Willie (McIlvain) Harris. She left this world an accomplished and very loved woman on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, surrounded by love.
Josie married James A. Copeland on Saturday, October 4th, 1941, in Alma, Arkansas, and built a long and beautiful life being married for 64 years. She loved her Lord and served with her minister husband, James, in several churches in Texas and Arkansas.
She is joined in heaven with her loving husband, Rev. James A. Copeland; her parents, Jeff and Willie Harris; four brothers and three sisters; and her grandson, Dwayne Shelton.
Josie is survived by her five children, Marilyn Williams of Plano, Texas, Jeannie Owens (Kermit) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Danny Copeland (Wanda) of Watauga, Texas, David "Bear" Copeland (Debbie) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Martha Thomas of Mabelvale, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Marilyn Ewing (Brad), Leslie Williams (Jon), Zane Copeland (Shannan), and James Thomas (Laura Brixie); six great grandchildren, Spencer Ewing, Cole Ewing (Niki), Will Shelton, Allie Shelton, Alexia Thomas (Jeffery Samples), and Isabel Copeland; along with many other family and friends who all love her and will miss her dearly.
Her celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. with her visitation one hour prior at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Kirksey officiating. She will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Park following her service.
To honor Josie, please feel free to wear red, her favorite color, or any bright color that day.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock, Arkansas; the First Baptist Church in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas; and the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
