Karla Joy Coffman, 37, passed away in the early hours of Monday, April 3, 2023.

Karla was what people needed. She showed up every day for the people in her life, caring, loving, advising, and championing them. Professionally, through her time at Eat My Catfish and later, Kanga Studio, she impacted hundreds of young professionals, helping them learn confidence, how to advocate for themselves, and how to live a life worth living. Karla was pure light. Since her passing, stories have poured in from friends and acquaintances, sharing how much Karla impacted them. She made herself available for deep conversations, drinks, a shoulder to cry on, or a friend to celebrate with, any time day or night.

Above all else, Karla was an inimitable mother. She adored Bree and Ethan and made every decision in life based on what would be best for them. She was an active participant in multiple "mom groups" online, and helped many friends adjust to parenthood. She was so proud of her kids and loved them fiercely.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Katy DePriest.

Karla is survived by her father, Kevin DePriest; stepfather, George Archer; her brother, Kamron DePriest; and her children, Bree and Ethan Coffman.
