Les received great personal satisfaction helping design, plant, and tend their gardens. He took pride in helping make the little part of his world a beautiful place. Les received pleasure in trying to keep it perfect. He liked to begin early ... Wake up...the garden is calling!
Garden time requires daily attention. If one thing did not work, he would not give up. He would persevere to find what did work. Working in the garden gives us something beyond the enjoyment of the senses. It gives inner peace. Life is daily...water it ... weed it. The book of Psalms admonishes us to care for the land and water it and enrich it abundantly. Les never considered it a chore to tend their outside spaces.
The satisfaction of being a gardener is in part the satisfaction of working diligently and seeing results. It also gives satisfaction of envisioning something beautiful and rendering that beauty tangible. It's the satisfaction of making your little part of the world a better place.
To everything there is a season. We are to know what season of life we are in… The Book of Ecclesiastes admonishes us that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away.
Song of Solomon 2:11-12 states, "See! The winter is past. The rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land."https://youtu.be/Ke7EUOjXMy4
