IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta "Sue"
Thompson
February 8, 1947 – August 1, 2024
Loretta "Sue" Thompson of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on August 1, 2024, surrounded by her family, after a lifetime of spreading love, kindness, and generosity.
She was born at home near Branch, Missouri and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1964 where she graduated from Central High School. She married her husband of 59 years, Doyle Thompson in 1965 and started a family.
Sister Sue, as her students called her, dedicated 48 years as a teacher and principal at Gospel Assembly Academy, First Gospel Academy, and Capital City Christian Academy.
She inspired generations of students and families with her faith, patience, and wisdom. Her tireless commitment to nurturing young minds and hearts has had a profound impact on everyone that knew her.
She served as a worship leader playing piano and leading songs in church starting in early 1970 up until her passing.
We remember her for her remarkable kindness, her generosity of spirit, and her unwavering commitment to others. Her love, laughter, and light will continue to inspire us to live with purpose, compassion, and joy.
Rest in peace, mom, nanny, dear Sister Sue. Your love and legacy will never fade.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Dell Thompson; her son, Brian Lane Thompson (Anita); her daughter, Tammy Sue Case (Billy); three sisters, Geneva Heggemeier, Joyce Winingar, and Shirley Bailey (Alfred); six grandchildren, Justin Case, Benjamin Case (Crystal), Christopher Case (Brooke), Mary Leniger (Brandon), Tiffany Foster (Michael), and Tucker Thompson (Alyx); eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life visitation will be held for Sue on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
