Marietta Coe, 96, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, May 13th, 2023. She was born on Thursday, May 5th, 1927, in Marikina, Philippines. She lived through the Japanese invasion and saw many atrocities. She wanted out and through her cousin, she was able to get a job washing uniforms by hand for American soldiers. With her continuous hard work, her friend was able to get her saleslady position at the Army Exchange, then later then Navy Exchange. Which is where her future husband laid eyes on her in the uniform department and quickly asked her to marry him after only three days. They decided to see the world and start creating a family. They first moved to Washington State and so, Arleen was born. Then they moved to Hawaii and then had Brad. From there they moved to Rhode Island, Japan, San Diego, back to Sasebo Japan, Baguio City, Philippines, San Francisco, Victorville, CA, and then finally Little Rock, Arkansas. Their love for travel created a lifetime of cherished memories. One thing about Marietta is that she loved to show her love by cooking—her specialties were lumpia, pancit, and fried rice. She was so creative and artistic. Sewing, crochet, needlework, and flower arranging came so easy for her. She did amazing work. When she wasn't cooking or creating something, you could probably find her watching all of Chuck Norris' shows!
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis Robert "Bob" Coe.
She is survived by her daughter, Arleen (Jay) Cooper; son, Bradley (Len) Coe; granddaughters, Kristin Freeman (Drew) and Lauren Byram (Daniel); three great grandkids, Elise Byram, Landon Byram, and Miles Freeman; one brother, Freddie; two sisters, Zeny and Lydia; nieces, Erlinda (Nene), Doris, and Editha; nephews, Boy, Teto, and Willie; along with too many other family and friends who all loved Marietta and will miss her dearly.
