Morgan L. Hodkin 91 of Benton went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2012. He was born on October 13, 1920 to the late, Bill and Grace Hodkin in Carthage, Mo. Mr. Hodkin was a Deacon for over 60 years a member of Holland Chapel Church. Morgan was the Mechanical Engineer Director of the Physical Plant at UAMS for 26 years. After he retired from UAMS in 1975 he was the field director with Carter, Chilcoat Icobaum Rouse and Walker. Mr. Hodkin served in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II serving USS Prairie Schooner seaman 3rd class station on Ulithie Island a repair base for damaged boats; he received and honorable discharge in 1944.
Mr. Hodkin is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kowana Sprouse and Joann Baxter and one son, Phillip L. Hodkin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Verna F. Hodkin; two children, Patricia Pruden (Joe) and Morgan Ellis Hodkin (Elaine); four grandchildren, David Pruden (Julie), Cherri Pruden, Jessica Overall (Matt) and Tara Hodkin; three great grandchildren, Sarah Ellis (Chris), Brody Overall and Jax Overall; two great great grandchildren, Madison and Paisley Ellis; two sisters, Inez Small and Mildred Fuller; one brother, John Hodkin (Vela) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
