Obituary

Paul Joseph Celauro, born March 1, 1950, passed away in his home in Bryant, Arkansas Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Paul was the loving father of Peter Celauro (Elizabeth), Alyson Mitchel (Nicholas) and Natalie Wilkinson. Grandfather to Henry Celauro, Charlie Celauro and Nixon Mitchel. He is survived by his sister, Linda Celauro; nieces, Wendy Salkin and Kerry Salkin (David); and grandnephew, Joshua Futterman-Salkin. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Celauro, and his mother, Joann Dziegiel. Born in New Jersey, Paul spent periods in Puerto Rico, Chicago, Florida and Maine before moving to Arkansas, where he lived the later years of his life. Gifted with the keen mind of an engineer, Paul held a degree in Chemical Engineering as well as a number of U.S. patents for original inventions in a variety of fields — including dermatology, food processing and systems integration. Paul also created many more inventions for personal use. Paul was a lifelong lover of music and a talented musician, playing bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, piano and electric keyboard in a variety of church worship bands over many years. Paul was also an audiophile with a discerning ear for high-fidelity speakers and recordings. He loved boating and fishing of all kinds, particularly deep-sea fishing, and was known to grill the day's catch for his family with delectable results. A faithful member of AllPoints Baptist Church, Paul was a dedicated Christian and had a passion for examining Scripture in great depth. He devoted the later years of his life to TrueUniverse™, a richly innovative, faith-based educational resource he created for students, parents, families, churches, seminaries and schools, which brings nuanced scientific research together with deep Scriptural study. His Bible and many devotional books were well-worn with bountiful notes in the margins, and he kept notebooks full of the names of people for whom he prayed each day. Talented and charismatic, Paul's marvelous sense of humor was a gift to those who knew and loved him. Paul was known as an encouraging friend, always the first to celebrate God's gifting in someone else. He was a joyful and passionate servant who loved others and was willing to do whatever it took to reach someone for Jesus. Generous with his time and resources, Paul enjoyed knowing and serving family, friends and strangers alike. Neighbors and acquaintances in Bryant recall his charming, amiable demeanor with fondness; friends of Paul's express their gratitude for his encouragement, influence and lasting impact in the world. Private, virtual services will be held. Please contact Alyson Mitchel at alcmitchel@gmail.com for more information.
