Obituary

Randy Keith Guynes, 74, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was born to the late, Virgil and Muriel (Corley) Guynes, on Monday, August 23, 1948, in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He was an Air Force brat that lived in various bases around the world until his dad retired in 1961. Randy then resided in Moro and attended school in Brinkley. He graduated with the love of his life, Reba Jackson, from Brinkley High School in 1966, and then married her on December 14th of 1968. During high school, he was the all-star quarter back and all district basketball player. In the spring of 1967, he went to spring training for the San Francisco Giants. He soon decided to enlist in the Air Force that summer to serve his country during Vietnam. Randy was first stationed in Lackland, then Philippines, Blytheville, San Antonio, Thailand, and Kansas City, MO during his seven years of service. Once leaving the air force, he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service. He worked in Hot Springs and then retired from West Helena, Arkansas in 2003. Randy was a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Freemason and a deacon at West Helena Baptist Church. He umpired youth baseball, coached youth baseball and softball, and refereed high school football around the state. For one season, he even coached his grandson's baseball team. Randy was an avid golfer at the Helena Country Club. After moving to Alexander in 2004, he worked part time at the Bryant Senior Center for ten years. Randy attended First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant and was a substitute Sunday school teacher.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil A. Guynes and Muriel Corley Guynes, and his brother, Windell V. Guynes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Reba A. Jackson Guynes; daughter, Dallas Dean Guynes; grandson, Lucas David Ward (Jaci); two granddaughters, Corley McCoy Ward and Piper Jackson Green; one great grandson, Mattox Wayne Ward; along with numerous other family and friends who all love him and will miss him dearly.
Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. with the visitation held one hour prior at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home. Burial to follow at 12:00 P.M. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
A special thank you to Saline Memorial Hospice and Heartland Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care of Randy during his last days.
