Richard A. (Dick) Emerson age 82 died Tuesday May 19, 2009 at his home after a battle with lung cancer. He was born at Corning Arkansas on June 27,1927 and was member of Christ Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Lena Elizabeth, a son George Wallace and several brothers and sisters.
Richard was a World War II Veteran as a U.S. Marine. Also serving in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2256 in Bryant. He retired from General Motors Studebaker Division. He loved working on old Chevy Trucks, also planting flowers was his passion.
He was a wonderful, loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend who will be missed so much.
He is survived by a son Richard (Dicky) Emerson of Bryant, a daughter Rita Archibald and her husband Ted Archibald of Benton. A granddaughter, Rachel and her husband Doug Standridge, Great Grandson Tye Standridge, Great Grandddaughter Dallas Standridge of Bryant, a sister Doris Day of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with family and friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday May 21, 2009 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home, 4212 Hwy 5N in Bryant.
Funeral Services will be held Friday May 22, 2009 at 10:30AM in the chapel of Dial and Dudley Funeral Home with Pastor George Dudley officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tony McClain, Raymond Cates, E.F. Crook, Tim Beene, Don Lawhon and Stan Ward.
The Family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Debra Quade, not only as a doctor but as a dear friend. Also, Saline County Hospice, Patty and Gracie for his comfort in his final days.
