Robert Lee Owen 74, of Benton, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, January 24, 2009. He was born on December 19, 1934 to the late Joe Bill and Zelda Odell Owen in Searcy, Arkansas. Mr. Owen served in the Korean Conflict with the United States Air Force. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and working in his garden. His very favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, he never missed a baseball game or any activity they had. Robert was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Benton for 38 years where he served many of those years as Chairman of the Board Of Directors.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Jean; three daughters, Sheila Riley (Willis), Tanya Wortmann (Larry) and Darla Gann (Dale); eight grandchildren, Laura Clark, Rebekah and Bethany Riley, Patrick Christain, Tyler and Justin Crabtree and Chris and Jake Gann; two brothers, Bill Owen (Jan) and Jim Owen (Doris); two sisters, Margaret Allen (Vern) and Ann Pigeon (Dave) and many nieces, nephews and church family who will all miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home, 4212 Hwy 5 North, Bryant 501-847-9099. A celebration of
Mr. Owen's life will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Burl Crabtree officiating. Pallbearers will be Patrick, Tyler, Justin, Chris, Jake, Dale, Larry and Willis. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock.
