Sammie Alice Smith 78 of Little Rock passed away on April 23, 2015 surrounded by family and love. She was born on March 18, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to her late parents Earl Fair Crook and Lorraine Bain Crook. Sammie enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family, playing cards and board games, traveling, sight-seeing and reading. She was an active member of Christ Church in Alexander. A strong, passionate, caring person with a zest for life, Sammie was a giving person who was always willing to help a friend in need.
Preceded in death by her husband, Alvin W. Smith; two sisters, Thelma Peck and Carolyn Joy Waltz and four brothers, Clifton Crook, Alfred Crook, Loren "Bookie" Crook, and Michael Crook.
Survived by her daughter, Lisa Vandiver; three sons, Dale Smith, Alvin N. Smith and Michael L. Smith; two sisters, Deborah Pack and Paulette Powell; five brothers, E.F. Crook, Louis Crook, Bill Crook, Jim Crook, Rick Crook; twelve grandchildren, David, Brian, Ashley, Timothy, Jared, Jacob, Michael, Valerie, Samuel, Darla, Lilly and Carlin; five great grandchildren, Brock, Amber, Kayleigh, David H. and David.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant with Pastor George Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Landmark Cemetery.
