Stephen Thomas Gwatney 76 of Benton went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2015 with his family by his side. Steve was born on December 16, 1938 to the late William and Serena Gwatney in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Steve retired from Wonder Bread in sales after 42 years and proudly served in the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donice Gwatney.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Diann Suggs Gwatney; two sons, Jay Gwatney and Jeffery Scott Gwatney (Tina); seven grandchildren, Tiffany Gwatney, Tyler Gwatney, Jared Gwatney, Blake Gwatney, Zachary Pringle, Jacob Pringle and Brandi Henry; three great grandchildren, Zaelyn Williams, Ryder Pringle and Caydon Pringle; sister, Jorene Shurley (Clayton); brother-in-laws, Wayne Suggs (Medeanna) and Bill Suggs (Linda) and a host of family and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
