Tom was the second of three sons of Welling and Alice (Hogan) Napton.
Tom's family moved from Great Falls to Missoula shortly after Tom's birth where Tom attended Saint Anthony Grade School, Loyola High School (Class of 1962), University of Montana (B.A. in history/Political Science) class of 1966 and University of Montana School of Law (Juris Doctorate) Class of 1976.

Tom spent his career as a Legal and Compliance Counsel. Tom provided legal and compliance counsel, via senior level management positions, for over 25 years. Mostly in Aero Space Industries. He is a member of the National Air & Space Museum's Wall of Honor. He retired and lived in Merritt Island, Florida, Abbeville, South Carolina and finally Bryant, Arkansas to be near his wife's family.

Tom was married to Margaret (Peggy) Sorge on November 17, 1979. They lived in Missoula, Seattle and Seal Beach, Ca. with her two children, Stacia Talpai now of Seabeck, Washington and Brett Copeland now of Los Angeles, California. Margaret (Peggy) passed away from cancer in 1989 in Long Beach, Ca.

Tom remained in California. After the kids were out of the house, he retired from Boeing and moved to Summerland, Ca to own a video store. While there, he met Carol Van Dyke and they were married February 26, 2000. Tom then went to work for the United Space Alliance in Cape Kennedy, Florida. They remained there until Tom's final retirement, and they moved to Greensboro, South Carolina. After a few years, they moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas to be near Carol's family.

When they both had health issues they moved into The Manor in Bryant, Arkansas. Tom passed away after a long series of illnesses and Carol remains at The Manor, cared for by her daughter, Jerri Lynne Van Dyke and family.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol, her daughter, Jerri Lynne, her son, Ronald Van Dyke and her grandson, Jared Cohen, his brother, Denis Napton of Orcutt, California and his step kids, Stacia and Brett, niece, Kim (Napton) Hunt, many cousins and innumerable friends.

He is preceded in death by his big brother, William (Bill), in 1997 and his wife, Peggy in 1989.

His life was a big life and he leaves an unfillable space.
