Virginia Irene Brock, age 93, of Bryant passed from this life on May 18, 2010 with her family by her side. Ms. Brock was born on November 11, 1916 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to her parents Alfred Olmstead and Irene Neal. Virginia was an elementary school teacher for 35 years in Broken Bow, OK, starting in a one room schoolhouse and received the Outstanding Teacher of America award in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bryant, where she loved singing and was very active in the choir. She also had a passion for growing flowers and vegetables in her garden and loved to fish. Ms. Brock is survived by her daughters; Marge Higginbotham of Bryant and Bettye Hill and her husband Thomas Sullen of Idabel, OK. Grandsons; Butch Higginbotham and wife, Melissa of Bryant, AR, Gene Higginbotham of Sheridan, AR and Buck Hill and wife Natalie of Idabel, OK. She is also survived by granddaughters; B.J. Golden and husband Tony Hughes of Little Rock, AR and Becky Neal and husband, Ronnie, also of Idabel, along with ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Hershael Brock, two brothers; Neal and Charles Olmstead and one sister, Tilly Olmstead Carleton. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:30 at Hochatown Cemetery in Hochatown, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8p.m. at Dial & Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, 501-847-9099. The family especially wants to thank Jon Person, her therapist who gave her such hope, Ashley Cummings and Sherri Haywood, of Baptist home Heath and particularly Shirley Barnes and Dee Dee Perry with Baptist Hospice, all who gave such wonderful and loving care over the last year.
