IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Christopher
Childers
November 10, 1981 – June 16, 2019
Our only beloved son, William Christopher "Chris" Childers, 37 years, 7 months, and 6 days, of Benton, Arkansas was called from his earthly home on Sunday, June 16, 2019 while doing what he loved the most; being outdoors with the love of his life and three of his best childhood friends. Chris was born to Robert M. and Linda D. Childers on Tuesday, November 10, 1981 in Newport, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Life Line Baptist Church. When he wasn't working, you would find him in the woods or at the deer lease where he was scouting for that elusive big buck that he would see for a second or two before he would disappear deeper into the woods. You would also find him helping his good friends with their sick animals. His love for animals was only exceeded by his love for his best friend and love, Ashley, his mother, and his Nanny. Friends and family said many times if he had the means, he would take in every stray he saw. He couldn't stand to see animals suffer. His love for animals actually lead him to his first job at Cloverdale Animal Hospital at the age of 16. While working there for many years, he began learning how to train special K9 breeds through his associations with specialist and law enforcement personnel. After losing his best fur buddy, Sezar, to a fire he left behind his work with animals, but not his love and care of them; and joined Central Arkansas Water. He worked there as a customer service representative after working in many other positions throughout his time there.
Chris was the most selfless individual according to his many friends. He would drop whatever he was doing when they called and helped them with whatever was needed; whether it was a car broke down, sick animals, needing a few extra dollars, or just to talk. Chris was always there. His laughter, smile, and practical jokes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. There is a tremendous void in his family that can never be refilled, but his memories will be cherished forever.
One final act of his selflessness was to be an organ and tissue donor so others may continue to live or be improved through his death.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother, James and Dorothy Bridges; paternal grandfathers, Mack Childers and Homer Pirtle; his favorite uncle, Jerry Howard.
Those left to cherish his memories are his parents; paternal grandmother "Nanny," Evelyn Pirtle; his soul mate, Ashley Harris; daughter, Alexis; son, Jack; several uncles, aunts, and many cousins; his extended family of "brothers he never had," Stephen Sullivan and his wife, Elizabeth; nephew, Logan; niece, Ashlyn; Blake Quast and family; Dustin Ramsey and family; two very special four legged fur buddies, Jake and Tigerpaw, who keep looking for him and miss him greatly.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dial and Dudley Funeral Home of Bryant, Arkansas.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and the celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home. Reverend, Jeff Dial, will be officiating the service.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, Little Rock Animal Village, any K9 protective equipment program, or a charity of your choice.
