Bill Blaylock's Obituary

Billy Gene Blaylock, 88 of Paron, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2017. He was born on April 7, 1928 in Paron, Arkansas to the late Claude and Nancy Blaylock. Claude Blaylock passed away and Nancy married Monroe Ray, and they raised Bill and his sister, Maxine from a very young age. Bill retired from Alcoa after 20 years of service. He was a member of North Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Paron, AR. Bill was 29 years old when he accepted Jesus as his Savior after a revival at North Fork. He was a faithful and supportive member and deacon for 59 years.

Bill married Nina (Curtis) Blaylock on December 13, 1952. Nina was his lifelong love of 64 years. He was drafted in the Army and served in the Korean War. When he returned from the war, he and Nina purchased the home and land in Paron where he was born and raised. That was his dream after having to move to Benton as a young man. In fact, he told his horses that he would return in three years to buy them and the home place back. It took him three years and two months to see that dream come true. Bill thought his place was a little piece of paradise. He loved his cows, garden, and hunting dogs. He lived out his life in Paron and was very proud of his home and family. He bragged that he had 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren with two on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He kept an ongoing count of all those children over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Claude Blaylock, Nancy Blaylock Ray, and step-father, Monroe Ray, nephew Jimmy White, brother-in-law James White, and daughter-in-law Kim Blaylock. Bill is survived by his wife, Nina Blaylock; his sisters, Maxine White and Dorothy Fern Ray; five children, Jeanie Sample (Richard); Annette Koon (Carroll); Carmon Blaylock (Dorinda); Mark Blaylock (Amy); and Shawn Goodknight (Bobby); 15 grandchildren, Kelley Ferguson (Thad); Scott Sample (Candy); Lyndi Otts (Jered); Kevin Koon (Tessa); Victoria Carter (Nathan); Jared Koon; Eric Blaylock (Karla); Patrick Blaylock (Alicyn); Holly Longing (Jacob); Dottie Fain (Garry); Jarret Rickard (Rachel); Abby Meier (Marcus); Vince Blaylock; Brittany Senn (Toby); and Jessica Gibson (Zach); 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, numerous relatives, and a host of church friends that he loved dearly. Pall bearers and honorary pall bearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 o'clock on March 30th at North Fork Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Sons-in-law, Carroll Koon and Bobby Goodknight, will be officiating. Pastor Joey Perry will officiate the graveside service at Bolin Cemetery in Paron. The family requests that memorials be made to the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas.
